I am based in Australia, but travel regularly to many places.
Regular Media Commitments
Television
I also appear fortnightly on the Foxtel national TV Show The Couch, which is shown each Wednesday and Sunday night. I can actually do a live cross from wherever I am, but for TV I prefer to present my segment when I return to Perth so that I have more opportunity to select great footage. I would actually record that segment as soon as possible after my return, so that it is still very fresh and relevant. When the programme was aired just once a week the audience was estimated as 250,000, but I assume that it’s larger than that with a double airing.
Newspapers
I also write (and provide photographs) for Have-A-Go News, which is Western Australia’s most popular senior’s magazine (that’s my demographic). It has a reach of over 900,000, My articles and photos would normally be published within two months of me returning to Perth, depending on whether or not I make their print run.
Social Media
I am also active on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. My followers for these are nowhere near as large as my other media,but TikTok is growing rapidly, and, when on assignment, I do publish every day on all platforms.
Podcasts
Also, my media history is as a radio broadcaster and I actively record and produce podcasts that I distribute through Substack to Spotify, Apple Podcasts and other podcast outlets.
Radio
I present a weekly travel segment on 3AW’s Australia Overnight with Tony McManus. I am normally on air from 30-40 minutes, which gives me plenty of opportunities to promote destinations and experiences. I can, and do, live crosses from wherever I am in the world, which means you have immediate coverage, and don’t have to wait around for months in order to see a story appear. This segment is heard live on 3AW Melbourne, 6PR Perth, 5AD Adelaide, and is syndicated through 26 regional stations in SA, Vic and NSW. 3AW is Melbourne’s most popular radio station, and the total audience is estimated to be about 750,000. If you are interested in word counts, this is about 2,625 words. I also take talkback, answer listener’s questions, and actively promote my destination/experience.
